Powerhouse Museum
Australia's largest and most popular museum explores almost every
aspect of human creativity, from Science and Technology to social
history, decorative arts and design. High tech displays and interactive
exhibitions, plus a world class approach to presentation, make the
Powerhouse Museum one of Sydneys key cultural attractions and loads of
fun.
Sydney Aquarium
Sharks are the big drawcard here in one of the largest aquariums in
the world. As well, many species of Austalia's marine life are
exhibited, including salt water crocodiles, murray cod, barrmundi, fairy
penguins and seals. There is a massive display on the Great Barrier
Reef glass tunnels let you walk the sea floor and you can get hands-on
experience at several 'touch pools'
Australian National Maritime Museum
Highlights of the Museum include a fleet of historic vessels, such
as the destroyer HMAS Vampire, the spectacular tall ship James Craig
and the sub HMAS Onslow.
There are varied programs of
changing special exhibitions. Free
resource material is available for most shool program and is sent to
the teacher upon booking. This material introduces the exhibitions and
enhances the Museum experience through pre and post visit exercises,
activity sheets and suggested reference material.
There are over 30 different programs for schools across the full K-12 range, in a number of syllabus areas.
IMAX Theatre Sydney
The 8-storey high IMAX screen presents a constantly changing program
including animation and art 2D and 3D films on nature, cities, sports
and more. Pre and post visit activities and work sheets are available.
Pylon Lookout - Sydney Harbour Bridge
Located in the South East Pylon of The Sydney Harbour Bridge discover the story of the Bridge.Climb 200 steps to the very top of the Pylon, where you will be rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of the city of Sydney.

Cockatoo Island
The island can be acessed by Ferry or Rivercat service from Circular Quay or various other locations.Cockatoo Island school excursions are most compatible with Primary and Secondary HSIE. The story of Cockatoo Island and the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust illustrates several key Civics and Citizenship themes. The excursion runs for approximately 4 hours Teacher Resource kits are available for download on the Cockatoo Island Website.
