Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka

M.A.D.E is a digitally interactive museum that houses the iconic and nationally significant Eureka Flag. As well as showcasing this impressive item, telling the story of life on the goldfields and presenting the history of the Eureka Stockade, M.A.D.E’s exhibition goes on to explore the importance that the events at Eureka had in shaping Australia’s parliamentary government and looks at the development of democracies in a global context.

School groups are invited to book into M.A.D.E for guided education tours. During the tours, students experience M.A.D.E's interactive touch tables, immersive speech and music rooms and are given a take-home worksheet.

M.A.D.E is situated within the Eureka Stockade Memorial park, which contains various sculptures and monuments dedicated to preserving the memory of the famous battle. The park also houses a Eureka Stockade themed playground with a rustic timber construction, lookout posts, barricades and tunnels. A visit to M.A.D.E together with lunchtime in the park makes for a perfect combination while visiting Ballarat.
